I removed / added my Google Account from my iPhone and now I can see the calendar without issue. The problem is with Calendar desktop application (on macOS). I followed all the instructions but while I can see Google listed on iCal, I can't see my Google calendars (check the picture). Mar 14, 2016 Turning off calendar only works if you don't want to sync with icloud. I had this problem and I had to set up to use ICloud Drive. Then calendar has to be ticked on. Also I created an email account linked to the icloud and apple id. It now works.

Calendar User Guide
If you keep calendars in internet accounts—for example, iCloud, Yahoo, or another CalDAV account—you can use the accounts in Calendar on your Mac, and access all your calendars and events in one place.
Add a calendar account
In the Calendar app on your Mac, choose Calendar > Add Account.
Do one of the following:
Select your calendar account provider, click Continue, then follow the onscreen instructions.
If your calendar account provider isn’t listed, ask your provider for the information you need to enter.
Choose Other CalDAV Account, click the Account Type pop-up menu, then choose an option based on the information you need to enter.
Automatic: Choose this option if you just need to enter your email address and password.
Manual: Choose this option if you need to enter your user name, password, and the server address.
Advanced: Choose this option if you need to enter your user name, password, server address, server path and port number. You can also select checkboxes if you need to use SSL or Kerberos v5 authentication.
Each account you add is listed separately in the sidebar. If the sidebar isn’t showing, choose View > Show Calendar List or click Calendars in the toolbar.
Set up your iOS and iPadOS devices to use the same account, so that your calendars stay up to date across all those devices and your Apple Watch.
Stop using a calendar account
Google Meet App Wont Add Meeting Info To Calendar Macbook
You can temporarily stop using an account so that its calendars and events no longer appear in Calendar on your Mac.
In the Calendar app on your Mac, choose Calendar > Accounts, then select the account you want to stop using.
Deselect the Calendar checkbox.
To use the account again in Calendar, select the Calendar checkbox. The account’s calendars and events reappear.
Delete a calendar account
If you no longer want to use an account in any app, including Calendar, you can delete the account.
Note: If you use iCloud Keychain, and you remove an account (other than your primary iCloud account), you’re asked whether to remove the account from your other Mac computers that use iCloud Keychain, or just turn off all the account features on this Mac.
In the Calendar app on your Mac, choose Calendar > Accounts, then select the account you want to delete.
Click the Remove button at the bottom of the account list.
You can view, add, and modify events, and respond to invitations, in the Calendar app on all your devices that use the same accounts. You can also view, add, and modify your iCloud calendar events, and respond to invitations, on iCloud.com. Changes you make show up everywhere, so you always have your most current calendar events at hand. Calendar notifications also appear on your Mac and other devices that use the same accounts.

Updated March 2017 with additional steps for un-syncing calendars.
If you accepted an invitation from someone to share a Google calendar but aren't seeing it on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac; it could be due to your Google Sync settings. Google turns sync off by default for new calendars, particularly shared ones. It's frustrating, and it's why you can't immediately see them on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac even when you can see them online. Luckily it's also simple to fix — once you know how!
How to get shared Google Calendars to show up on iPhone, iPad, and Mac
Launch Safari or any other web browser on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Go to calendar.google.com/calendar/syncselect.
Sign in if you aren't already.
Under Shared Calendars, tick the boxes for the calendars you want to see on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
It can take a few minutes for the calendars to appear. If they don't appear right away, close the Calendar app and reopen it.
How to stop a calendar from syncing across your devices
If you have a shared Google calendar that you only need access to every once in a while, so you don't want it on your iPhone, you can un-sync it. I share a practice space calendar with about a dozen people, which takes up pretty much all the space on my calendar app. Un-syncing it from Google's calendars makes my schedule look a lot less daunting.
Launch Safari or any other web browser on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Go to google.com/calendar/syncselect.
Sign in if you aren't already.
Untick the box for any calendar you don't want to sync with your iPhone or iPad's Calendar app.
Click Save to save the settings.
From now on, those calendars won't even appear as an option for you to add to the built-in Calendar app (or even any third-party app that supports Google Calendar).
